Description

The EU-funded innovation initiative “Boosting mental health of young cancer survivors through the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC)” supports the development and validation of a digital, multilingual online platform for adolescent and young adult cancer patients and survivors aged 15–39 years. The goal is to integrate personalized, evidence-based tools, Patient Reported Outcomes Measures (PROMs), and Patient Reported Experiences Measures (PREMs) into the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre (ECPDC). The funding rate is 70% for Research & Innovation (HORIZON Innovation Actions), with a maximum funding amount of €7 million. Eligible applicants are consortia consisting of at least three independent partners from three EU/associated countries, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-profit organizations, public and private research institutions, as well as start-ups. The project duration starts after signing the grant agreement, with the application deadline on 15 September 2026.

Within the framework of the initiative, end users are actively involved in the research and testing phases to address cognitive, affective, and behavioral aspects of mental health in a target-group-appropriate manner. In addition to platform development, the project includes conducting efficacy studies, data analysis in accordance with the European Health Data Space (EHDS), formulation of guidelines for data storage, as well as a comprehensive network of oncologists, psychologists, computer scientists, data scientists, and patient representatives. Evaluation will be based on the level of innovation, impact potential, and quality and efficiency of implementation. The initiative funds personnel expenses, material and travel costs, as well as subcontractor services. Ambitious project proposals offering sustainable psychosocial support for young cancer patients are encouraged to apply for participation.
