Description

“Boosting plant health and reducing losses on farm and during storage for sustainable growth in Africa (FNSSA)” targets consortia of EU and African partners from educational institutions, companies, public bodies, and non-profit organizations. The aim of the grant program is the development and testing of environmentally friendly, cost-effective strategies and tools for integrated plant protection management. The focus is on the identification and management of key plant pests in African agricultural systems to reduce pre- and post-harvest losses, increase productivity, and enhance resilience to climate and biodiversity challenges. With funding of up to €6,000,000 per project, personnel costs, material expenses, travel and subsistence costs, as well as subcontractor costs are supported at a funding rate of 100%.

The funding is particularly relevant for agricultural stakeholders in African countries – from farmers and advisory services to research institutions and non-governmental organizations – who wish to jointly test and implement innovative solutions within the framework of a mandatory multi-actor approach. A consortium must include at least three independent partners from African countries as well as organizations from EU member states. Applications must be submitted by 14.04.2026; selection will be based on the criteria of innovativeness, expected impact, and the quality and effectiveness of implementation. The funding measure contributes to the implementation of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda and supports global climate and biodiversity goals.
