Citizen Fund Culture

The Citizen Fund for Culture is an innovative funding program initiated by the Ministry of Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to support cultural projects serving the public good. The program is exclusively aimed at non-profit organizations and funds time-limited projects that strengthen social cohesion and cultural diversity in the region. With an eligible grant of up to €15,000, the Citizen Fund opens opportunities to realize cultural initiatives that are not covered by existing funding schemes. The funding particularly emphasizes supporting projects that both have a sustainable impact and promote regional community cohesion.

Among others, local cultural projects, educational offerings in the cultural sector, as well as further training aimed at linking cultural heritage and contemporary developments in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania are supported. Explicit encouragement is given to cultural projects that foster inclusive exchange and interdisciplinary cooperation. A prerequisite for funding is that the projects have a clearly defined, time-limited framework and demonstrably serve the goal of preserving and strengthening the community. Funding is granted exclusively to non-profit entities operating without economic interests or profit motives. This ensures that the grants directly benefit cultural and educational projects.

The program allows for continuous application submissions, enabling interested organizations or initiatives to submit their project proposals at regular intervals. Applications can be submitted either by postal mail or email using a special application form, with a written format sufficient for simplicity. The professional review and administration of the funds are handled by the State Funding Institute Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which, as the approving authority, also ensures the efficient use of available budgetary resources.
