Description

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWK) supports the development of transformation plans (Module 5) within the framework of the nationwide "Federal Funding for Energy and Resource Efficiency in the Economy." The objective is the systematic development and implementation of a decarbonization strategy with a view to long-term climate neutrality. Eligible to apply are all private-sector, municipal, and state-owned enterprises from industry, trade, commerce, and services, as well as self-employed professionals and contractors with business premises in Germany. Economically active associations, federations, and foundations may also participate, provided that economic activity can be demonstrated. Applications can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2028, to the project sponsor VDI/VDE Innovation + Technology GmbH, and approval must be obtained before the commencement of the contracted services.

Funding is provided for external services such as consulting, accounting, conceptualization, and measurement services directly related to the preparation of a transformation plan. Eligible costs are reimbursed proportionally: up to 60% for small, 50% for medium-sized, and 40% for large enterprises. Companies actively participating in an Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Network (IEEKN) receive a bonus of 10 percentage points and a maximum funding amount of up to €90,000. Without network participation, the maximum amount is €60,000. A prerequisite for funding is a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting for at least one German site, the establishment of a 10-year reduction target of at least 40%, and the development of concrete action plans. The continuous application process allows for flexible project planning and supports companies in effectively preparing their energy and resource-efficient transformation steps.
