Description

The nationwide grant program REAG/GARP offers individuals from non-EU countries who are currently undergoing asylum procedures, have had their asylum application rejected, or hold a tolerated status comprehensive financial and organizational support for voluntary return to their country of origin or onward migration to a third country. The funding is managed by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF), which accepts applications through recognized counseling centers and provides funds of up to 2,000 EUR. The goal is to effectively relieve returnees of travel costs such as flight or bus tickets, travel allowances, medical accompaniment, and a one-time integration assistance. Special consideration is given to victims of human trafficking or forced prostitution, who are also among the eligible beneficiary groups.

Eligible expenses include, among others, travel costs, travel allowances, medical care during the journey and in the destination country, as well as a one-time support for a new start valued at up to 1,000 EUR (family maximum 4,000 EUR). For the application, a valid travel document, if applicable a visa for the destination country, a medical certificate in case of health restrictions, and in case of pregnancy a copy of the maternity record are required. Applications are submitted continuously through independent or governmental counseling centers listed in the information portal on voluntary return and reintegration. By combining organizational support and financial assistance, the program contributes to implementing return plans in a sustainable and dignified manner and individually supports the often lengthy clarification process.
