Description
The Baden-Württemberg Foundation for Development Cooperation (SEZ) supports development policy partnership projects with the bwirkt! program in three funding lines: domestic projects in Baden-Württemberg, partnership projects in the Global South, and initiatives in the partner country Burundi. The goal is to strengthen non-profit organizations in Baden-Württemberg and their local partners based on the principle of "help for self-help." Funding is provided for educational, networking, and partnership measures that make a concrete contribution to poverty reduction, pursue innovative approaches, and have been developed in close consultation with local communities. The projects align with the Sustainable Development Goals and the development policy guidelines of the state. The SEZ supports applicants with advice, qualification offers, and intensive networking among participants to enhance the impact and sustainability of the projects.
Eligible for funding are non-profit recognized associations, foundations, churches, municipalities, and educational institutions based in Baden-Württemberg that implement projects in partnership with local organizations in DAC countries or Burundi. Applications can be submitted via the online portal until February 20, 2026, 4 p.m. The project duration is limited to 12 months, and funding is provided as a grant covering up to 85% of eligible expenses (personnel, material, and travel costs, as well as up to 10% administrative expenses). A mandatory own contribution of at least 15% of the total costs must be demonstrated. Projects must not have ended before the start date; a previous approval in the same funding line excludes a new application. The maximum funding amount is €20,000 per project. With funds from the State of Baden-Württemberg and a guarantee fund from the SEZ, sustainable cooperation is promoted, focusing on long-term impact and partnership exchange.
