Description
The EU-funded research project “Crafting routes to a circular economy” connects culture, creativity, and the circular economy within a transnational consortium of companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations across the EU. The objective is to research and develop circular business models based on the cultural and creative sectors (CCSI). The focus lies on interdisciplinary research and innovation approaches as well as education and training modules to strengthen sustainable circular practices. Through case studies, co-creation workshops, and pilot applications, scalable, inclusive business models are developed. A combination of practical testing and participatory research provides evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and industry. The results culminate in practical guides, toolkits, and training modules that enable broad application in politics, industry, and civil society.
With a funding amount of up to €3,000,000 at a 100% funding rate, the project supports personnel costs, material expenses, and travel costs. Evaluation is based on the criteria of innovation content, quality of project management, as well as impact and dissemination of results. Interested research institutions, SMEs, and start-ups in the cultural sector can submit their detailed project descriptions, financial plans, and CVs by 23 September 2027. A special focus is placed on the quality of open innovation processes, the integration of gender dimensions, and a transparent dissemination strategy. The developed concepts are intended to be adaptable across Europe and contribute to the sustainable transformation along the entire circular economy value chain.
