The goal is to bring students closer to the values and principles of democracy and to inspire them to engage in political and social participation by having Rotary Clubs, in cooperation with the Christoph Sonntag Foundation, conduct one-week democracy weeks at schools.

Description
The CHRISTOPH SONNTAG FOUNDATION GmbH invites Rotary Clubs in Germany to collaboratively design and implement Democracy Weeks at schools. In cooperation with the foundation, one-week workshops are offered in which students experience democratic values and participation opportunities. Through lectures, panel discussions, and practical activities, the program promotes political awareness and strengthens social cohesion. Rotary Clubs take on organizational and content-related tasks, such as public relations or on-site catering, and contribute with their networks to reaching disadvantaged schools. The selection of participating institutions is based on criteria such as need and social circumstances to ensure targeted support. The program is scheduled to start on February 1, 2025, with a project duration of approximately one month, including preparation and follow-up.
Membership in a Rotary Club is required to apply. Interested clubs complete the expression of interest form and send it by email to the CHRISTOPH SONNTAG FOUNDATION GmbH. Since the call for applications is continuously open without a fixed deadline, applications can be submitted at any time. The sponsorship measure includes the provision of funds and resources for the implementation of the Democracy Weeks. The goal is to inspire children and young people about politics, responsibility, and social participation, thereby making a sustainable contribution to the promotion of democracy.
