Description
The Deutsche Bank Sports Scholarship has been awarded since 2012 by the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation in cooperation with Deutsche Bank to dedicated young and elite athletes nationwide. Students who are already supported by Sporthilfe receive an additional monthly allowance of 300 euros on top of the existing support package. The aim of this partnership is to ease the often challenging balancing act between competitive sports and academic studies and to provide athletes with space for their sporting and professional goals. Currently, up to 400 athletes from around 30 disciplines benefit from this exclusive funding, which applies from the first semester and is granted beyond the standard period of study to allow for individual extensions due to outstanding sporting achievements.
Funding is exclusively provided to enrolled athletes in regular study programs who can present a valid performance certificate from the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation. There is no fixed application deadline, as the program is continuously open and approval is granted promptly upon meeting the requirements. The financial support significantly contributes to covering training and competition costs as well as study-related expenses. Thus, the sports scholarship not only strengthens individual performance capacity but also makes an important contribution to dual career support in German elite sports.
