German Media Award for Depression Support

The German Media Award for Depression Support, awarded every two years, honors outstanding journalistic works that present the topic of depression to a broad audience in a clear, well-founded, and sensitive manner. The award is sponsored by the German Depression Aid Foundation and a distinguished jury that evaluates submissions from the fields of print, online, radio, and television. Special attention is given to the responsible portrayal of suicide reporting to prevent potential imitation effects. With a prize of 5,000 euros, the award recognizes media professionals whose work not only informs but also contributes to reducing stigma and promoting education and understanding.

Both private authors and editorial teams from companies publishing contributions in Germany are eligible for funding. Evaluation is based on the quality and clarity of the contribution, its relevance to a broad public, and sensitivity in suicide reporting.
