In Germany, free, practice-oriented training sessions are offered for trainers, instructors, and supervisors in sports clubs, recreational facilities, and all-day programs to enable children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes to participate fully in physical activity and leisure. The multipliers receive comprehensive knowledge on blood sugar management, insulin dosing, and emergency situations during physical activity. The program combines theoretical fundamentals with subsequent exercises in realistic scenarios, allowing caregivers to gain confidence and strengthening the trust of the young athletes. The goal is to reduce fears and uncertainties, thereby promoting the well-being and health-related independence of the participants.
The funding is aimed at non-profit and public institutions nationwide that are responsible for children’s and youth activities.
