Description
The funding program Digital Publications of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) supports researchers in publishing scientific results in innovative digital formats. Funded applications include apps, wiki models, scientifically annotated databases, as well as multimedia-enriched web publications. With a maximum grant of up to €50,000 per project and a funding rate of 100%, projects can be realized that provide the public with free access to internationally relevant basic research. Projects must be completed within 36 months and published simultaneously in open access. An accelerated decision process is available for publications based on project results already reviewed by the FWF and supported by an international peer review at the publisher.
Researchers from all disciplines at universities, universities of applied sciences, and research institutions throughout Austria are eligible. Requirements for a successful application include presenting research results of international significance, proof of long-term funding for at least six years, and simultaneous open access publication. Submissions are accepted continuously via the electronic application portal elane. Required documents include the application guidelines and associated checklists for both the regular and accelerated procedures. The program thus offers a flexible framework to sustainably realize digital research publications with free accessibility and contributes to strengthening science communication.
