Description

The Digitalization in Healthcare program (eHealthSax) of the Free State of Saxony supports patient-oriented applications and telemedicine concepts that optimize everyday care through digital communication channels. Funding is provided, among others, for cross-sector services that facilitate access to the healthcare system, as well as innovative model projects to strengthen the shared responsibility of all actors in healthcare. Eligible for funding are healthcare institutions and organizations, social insurance carriers, hospitals listed in the Saxon hospital plan, as well as natural and legal persons in model projects. The grant amounts to up to 80% of eligible expenses for personnel costs, material costs, investments, and external services. A prerequisite for funding is that the measure is implemented in the Free State of Saxony and that minimum funding amounts (EUR 2,500 or EUR 10,000 for municipal corporations) and deadlines are observed.

Applications are submitted via the Saxon Development Bank – Förderbank – (SAB) with the required project outline, proof of financing, and additional forms. The deadline for digitalization and telemedicine applications is March 31, and for measures related to digital infrastructure, February 28 of each year. Evaluation and selection are based on clearly defined assessment criteria such as relevance to care, patient orientation, interoperability, cross-sector collaboration, sustainability, and scalability. Thus, the funding offer is aimed equally at municipalities, companies, and research institutions to strengthen and network medical care in Saxony digitally in the long term.
