Description
Since 2010, the DMK Award for Sustainable Building has honored outstanding construction projects throughout Germany that combine economic success with social responsibility and environmental protection. Sponsored by the Dagmar + Matthias Krieger Foundation and supported by the BFW Regional Association of Independent Real Estate and Housing Companies Hessen/Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland e.V., the award is aimed at architects, developers, project planners, urban and building planning offices, as well as students. In the categories of residential and commercial construction as well as student study projects, particularly innovative concepts are recognized that unite resource-conserving materials, energy efficiency, and social added value into a holistic approach. The jury evaluates submitted works based on sustainability aspects, degree of innovation, economic success, and social responsibility to highlight a future-proof and grandchild-friendly way of building.
In addition to the financial award totaling 7,000 euros, the DMK Award provides a public platform where exemplary projects are presented to a broad professional audience. The ceremonial award presentation fosters exchange among experts from architecture, urban planning, and environmental protection, as well as representatives of public institutions and the business sector. By highlighting exemplary construction projects, the award not only provides an impetus for sustainable planning and building but also strengthens awareness of long-term effective approaches across the entire construction sector. With this award, the Dagmar + Matthias Krieger Foundation underscores its commitment to shaping livable cities and regions for the benefit of future generations.
