Description

The Fonds Soziales Wien supports deaf, hearing and visually impaired, and deafblind individuals aged 15 and over with their main residence in Vienna through financial funding of disability-specific interpreting services. The goal is to promote social rehabilitation and enable participation in social life as well as in educational events such as courses, seminars, universities of applied sciences, or universities. Funding is provided, among others, for sign language interpreting, Lorm, symbol language, and tactile signing. Travel times, waiting times, video interpreting, a technical allowance, and public transportation fares are also eligible for funding. A scientific review by a multiprofessional expert team ensures that economy, appropriateness, and efficiency in the use of funds are maintained.

The funding is granted as a subsidy once the funding requirements are met – in particular, main residence in Vienna, Austrian citizenship or equivalence, official proof of disability, completion of compulsory schooling in the educational sector, and participation up to the age of 35. Up to €10,000 can be applied for per calendar year, with up to €5,000 for social rehabilitation. Applications can be submitted at any time. To apply, among other documents, the FSW application form, a medical disability certificate, income proofs from the last three months, an official photo ID, registration certificate, and, if applicable, documents regarding maintenance obligations or power of attorney must be attached. All required documents can be submitted at the customer service of Fonds Soziales Wien – the decision is made in writing.
