Description

The Baumgart Foundation for Contemporary History continuously supports scholarly publications in the field of Nazi perpetrator research by covering printing costs. Eligible for funding are educational institutions, public institutions, non-profit organizations, as well as private individuals throughout Germany. The aim is to support the creation and dissemination of independent monographs and essays in this research area, thereby closing research gaps in perpetrator studies. The foundation covers the printing costs in full (funding rate 100%) and thus enables barrier-free publication of new findings regarding the role of those involved in the system of National Socialist concentration camps, the Waffen-SS and police, as well as their social environment. Submission of a project outline is a prerequisite for approval; applications can be submitted at any time by email in accordance with the funding guidelines.

In particular, scholars and institutions from university and non-university research facilities find here an attractive funding opportunity to make their work visible and tangible. The Baumgart Foundation places special emphasis on scientific excellence and a critical, cultural-historical approach that illuminates both the prehistory before 1933 and the aftermath after 1945. Only printing costs are funded, allowing applicants to fully concentrate on the substantive quality of their manuscripts. This funding opens new perspectives on Nazi perpetrator biographies, examines mechanisms of disinformation and discrimination, and contributes to preserving collective and familial memory in light of generational change.
