Implementation of national and international major sporting events

The state funding for the organization of national and international major sporting events in Carinthia supports non-profit organizations in hosting regional, national, and international competitions and large-scale sports events. The aim of the 100% grants is to enable Carinthian sports clubs, sports associations, and alpine organizations to adequately cover operating costs, insurance premiums, personnel expenses, and material costs. Funding applications can be submitted continuously; a positive funding approval by Department 6 – Education and Sports of the Office of the Carinthian State Government is a prerequisite for disbursement. The application requires compliance with the Carinthian Sports Act and the Carinthian Sports Guidelines and must be submitted in writing along with the relevant documents. Approval and processing take place within the framework of the transparent state budget, and there is no deadline.

The funding sustainably strengthens the sporting infrastructure in Carinthia and consolidates Carinthia as a venue for sports events of national and international significance. Carinthian sports clubs and sports associations gain planning security for their events and can offer their participants – whether recreational, grassroots, or competitive athletes – attractive competitions and spectator events. The measures range from grassroots sports festivals to international cup matches and help to inspire audiences, promote cultural exchange, and stimulate the regional economy through tourism-related value creation. Thanks to the straightforward application process and full cost coverage, innovative sports projects can be realized, and the diversity of the Carinthian sports landscape can be sustainably further developed.
