Description
The EAG investment grants for renewable gas support investments in Vienna aimed at the production and processing of sustainable gaseous energy carriers. Funding is provided both for the conversion of existing biogas plants in accordance with § 60 EAG and for the new construction of plants under § 61 EAG. With calls opening twice a year and unlimited funding volume, the program offers attractive seed financing for projects in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energies, and climate protection. Since September 2, 2024, natural and legal persons – ranging from private individuals to companies and cooperatives, as well as non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and start-ups – can submit their projects. The funding aims to advance the expansion of renewable gases and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to ensure a sustainable and competitive energy supply.
As a prerequisite for a successful application, all necessary permits must be in place, commissioning must not have occurred before the application submission, and work must not have started before July 28, 2021. Furthermore, construction must comply with the state of the art, and execution must be carried out professionally and according to standards by qualified contractors. A coherent cost, schedule, and financing plan must document the financial security of the measure. Applicants must also ensure compliance with procurement law requirements and submit comparative offers if necessary. Applications are submitted in biannual calls with a minimum deadline of eight weeks. The funding process is managed by the Federal Ministry for Economy and Labor (BMWET), Section V, Department 4 Renewable Energy Production.
