Description

With the EAG Market Premium for Biomass Plants in Vienna, an effective contribution is made to climate protection and sustainable energy supply. The funding is provided as a grant through an administrative market premium, which can be continuously applied for until January 1, 2030. The goal is to offset the difference between the production costs of electricity from biomass and the average market price – thereby enhancing the economic attractiveness of renewable energy sources. Both private individuals and companies of all sizes can submit funding applications and receive a premium for marketed electricity fed into the public power grid. The project-specific funding runs for 240 months and covers production, operating, and maintenance costs to ensure long-term planning security.

Interested parties are operators and investors of newly constructed, repowered, revitalized, or expanded biomass plants in Vienna and the surrounding area that feed electricity into the grid. Requirements include grid connection, remote controllability with load profile meter or smart meter, a fuel utilization efficiency of at least 60%, technical measures for particulate matter reduction, a heat meter compliant with the state of the art, as well as a raw material supply concept for five years of operation. High-quality concepts for efficiency and emission reduction are also part of the evaluation criteria alongside the bid amount. Thanks to simple administrative processes and fixed funding rates, the effort involved is minimal. The proper project description in the EAG portal forms the basis for review and ranking, so that prompt approval supports the implementation of climate-friendly biomass projects in Vienna.
