Efficient and compliant access to and use of data (IA) (AI, Data and Robotics partnership)

The EU innovation initiative "Efficient and compliant access to and use of data" supports, within the framework of the "AI, Data and Robotics" partnership, the development and testing of advanced AI-driven data management systems. The goal is to establish secure, scalable, and interoperable solutions to automate key data processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and increase data availability across the EU. The measures aim to facilitate standards-based data exchange, enhance data accuracy and privacy, and optimize regulatory procedures through AI tools. Consortia can submit their applications via the Funding & Tenders Portal by April 15, 2026 – a single-stage submission round for Innovation Actions with funding amounts ranging from €11.5 million to €23.5 million per project at a funding rate of 70%. Eligible costs include personnel, material, and travel expenses as well as subcontracting; real estate acquisitions and retroactive costs are excluded.

The call addresses companies of all sizes, public administrations, research institutions, universities, and non-profit organizations from EU Member States, associated countries, and OECD states. Particular emphasis is placed on SMEs and authorities seeking to establish or expand cross-border data spaces. Eligible applicants are legal entities submitting electronically, providing a detailed project concept, financing plan, key personnel CVs, and the completed standard form HE RIA/IA. Evaluation criteria include innovation content, relevance to the EU data strategy, technical feasibility, sustainability, and dissemination and exploitation potential. Through this call, the European Commission aims to advance digital sovereignty, research excellence, and cross-border cooperation, positioning the EU at the forefront of data-driven innovation.
