Description

EMFAF 2023–2027: Agricultural Income Support – Alpine Grazing Premium supports the economic stability of Austrian agricultural and forestry enterprises through a specific, animal-related payment. The promotion targets the grazing of cattle, ewes, and goats on traditional, extensively managed alpine pasture areas throughout the entire federal territory. Aiming to secure viable incomes, the premium contributes to the sustainable use of alpine grasslands and the preservation of the cultural landscape. Payments are made within the framework of the Market Regulation Act 2021 and the Austrian CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027, which sets the strategic orientation for funding measures. Enterprises of all sizes benefit from the support as soon as they meet the requirements for grazing and apply for the animal-related payment.

Applications can be submitted continuously between 01.01.2023 and 31.12.2027. Eligible for funding are all agricultural and forestry businesses that graze cattle, ewes, or goats on alpine pastures. Compliance with the regulations according to the Market Regulation Act 2021 and the provisions of the national CAP Strategic Plan is a prerequisite. With a budgeted funding volume of €90 million, substantial amounts are made available annually for alpine grazing. Agrarmarkt Austria (AMA) handles the administrative processing via the Digital Funding Platform (DFP), for which a one-time registration is required. The animal-related payment not only supports income stabilization but also contributes to the preservation of alpine biodiversity and the protection of cultural traditions in Austria’s mountain regions.
