Volunteer Award of the Citizens' Foundation

Since 2001, the Volunteer Award of the BürgerStiftung Region Ahrensburg has honored outstanding voluntary commitment in the Ahrensburg region. Private individuals or groups who actively promote social cohesion, democracy, work, and social affairs are recognized with this non-material and financial award. The award is presented annually and highlights the long-term dedication of volunteers by issuing certificates and publicly acknowledging their contributions. Through this commendation, valuable impulses for civic engagement are intended to be set and role models created. The award exclusively pertains to voluntary activities within the funding area of Schleswig-Holstein and is aimed at individuals or groups who dedicate their time and skills free of charge for the benefit of the community.

The Volunteer Award is granted within a sponsorship model without a fixed upper limit on the funding amount. Applications can be submitted informally by the specified deadlines; exact dates can be found on the BürgerStiftung website. The procedure is designed to be straightforward to facilitate access for as many volunteers as possible. A jury of independent experts reviews the proposals, selects the awardees, and ensures a transparent selection process. With the continuous call for applications, motivation and visibility of voluntary work are to be promoted in order to sustainably strengthen civil society cooperation and enable broad recognition.
