Description
In the state of Upper Austria, an ongoing grant initiative supports natural and legal persons as well as water cooperatives in the establishment of individual systems for wastewater treatment and discharge outside municipal networks. The measure provides financial incentives for investment costs in wastewater treatment and discharge facilities: €1,400 for the first four population equivalents (PE) and €150 per additional PE up to 50 PE, alternatively 30% of the eligible investment costs. The funding applies already before construction begins and is designed as a non-repayable construction cost subsidy. Own contributions, administrative fees, and connection charges are not considered.
A prerequisite is a legally binding building permit as of the reference date 01.04.1993 for properties with a main residence or predominantly economic or tourist use. Furthermore, a water law permit or a confirmation from the sewerage company, the execution of an alternative analysis regarding economic efficiency, as well as membership in the Upper Austrian Water Cooperative Association are required. No other subsidies – except for the federal funding for settlement water management – may be claimed. The application must include, among other documents, a fully completed application form, site plan, alternative study, and permit decision. The water law approval must remain valid for at least ten years. This structured funding ensures proper, environmentally compatible wastewater disposal and contributes to climate protection and energy efficiency in rural areas.
