Description

The individual case assistance of the Carpe diem Foundation supports hematology-oncology patients as well as their relatives throughout Germany with one-time grants of up to €500. The focus is on improving the quality of life of those affected, who have fallen into unforeseen financial hardship due to leukemia, lymphomas, or other malignant diseases of the blood and lymphatic system. Eligible to apply are private individuals with a permanent residence in Germany who possess a social benefits certificate valid for at least three months according to AO § 53 No. 2. The funding covers expenses for hospital or rehabilitation stays (such as telephone, TV, and Wi-Fi fees), everyday necessities like nightwear and hygiene articles, as well as travel and accommodation costs, for example, for doctor visits or patient events. Accompanying "small breaks" for relatives can also be subsidized to alleviate the emotional burden on family supporters.

Applications can be submitted informally at any time or via the Foundation’s online form. The application must include a medical certificate confirming the existing hematology-oncology disease, proof of permanent residence by identity card or registration certificate, as well as the complete, current social benefits certificate (valid for at least three months). The decision on the grant is made by the Carpe diem Foundation’s board of trustees based on the submitted documents and the financial liquidity of the Foundation’s assets. Upon approval, the grant is paid out straightforwardly, without any legal entitlement. The individual case assistance is aimed at all those who require financial compensation in the course of their therapy and care and offers valuable support to patients and their relatives in challenging life situations.
