Electric Taxis in Vienna

The funding initiative “Electric Taxis in Vienna” supports Viennese taxi companies in the gradual transition to purely electric vehicles. The goal is a noticeable reduction of local emissions and a contribution to the targeted CO₂-free commercial transport by 2030. Funding is provided based on driving performance measured in so-called e-occupied hours, i.e., hours during which paying passengers are transported. The City of Vienna continuously provides subsidies, which are paid out in installments based on verified e-occupied hours. This measure addresses environmental and climate protection goals as well as aspects of air quality improvement and noise reduction in the inner-city area.

Eligible to participate are small and medium-sized taxi companies with an active trade license, headquarters or branch, and value creation in Vienna. Up to 15 new vehicles can be applied for per applicant. Funding prerequisites include, among others, a valid purchase, rental, or leasing contract, a registration certificate with usage designation 25, and the exclusion of any opened insolvency proceedings. The funding amounts to 5 EUR per e-occupied hour and is capped at a maximum of 10,000 EUR per vehicle. The billing period extends up to 24 months. Applications can be submitted online from January 1, 2023, and will be processed in order of receipt until funds are exhausted.
