Description
This funding program supports operators of stationary long-term care facilities nationwide in significantly reducing energy consumption and switching to climate-friendly heating systems. Funding is provided for thermal renovations of existing buildings, measures to optimize heat, steam, domestic hot water, and cooling supply, as well as modernization of lighting to LED systems. Free-cooling systems and plug-and-play cooling and freezing devices are also considered. Additionally, when a thermal renovation is carried out simultaneously, the installation of climate-friendly heating systems – such as heat pumps, central wood heating systems, or connection to highly efficient local/district heating networks – is eligible for funding. Applications can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2050; project commencement can take place from January 1, 2025.
Eligible applicants are commercially or non-profit operating companies, associations, religious institutions, and municipalities that operate or own buildings with at least 50% long-term care usage. A minimum investment of €300,000 and an achieved energy savings of at least 30% compared to the current state are prerequisites, as well as submission before the first legally binding order or start of construction. Funding rate: 50% for public care places, otherwise 30% to 50% of the eligible additional costs; maximum funding amount €6 million per project. Evaluation criteria include verifiable energy savings, a coherent overall energy concept, climate protection impact, and budget efficiency. The project duration is set at 36 months, and processing is carried out by Kommunalkredit Public Consulting GmbH.
