Description

The initiative of the state of Burgenland supports companies, public institutions, and non-profit organizations in increasing the remuneration for nursing and care staff as well as social care professionals in 2026. The goal is to achieve a tangible appreciation of the nursing profession through an additional gross payment of €175.71 per full-time equivalent employee (paid 14 times annually), to enhance job satisfaction, and to meet the growing personnel demand in light of demographic developments in Burgenland. Funding is provided to hospitals, spa facilities, partial and full inpatient long- and short-term care institutions, providers of mobile nursing and care services, as well as organizations offering inpatient and partial inpatient support for people with disabilities, provided that the staff are employed under the Health and Nursing Care Act (GuKG) or work in social care professions.

The funding period covers 12 months with quarterly advance payments starting from the first quarter of 2026. A prerequisite is the earmarked use of funds exclusively for personnel costs and the submission of a detailed breakdown of full-time equivalents and headcounts by occupational groups, along with a signed self-declaration confirming the correct use of funds. Funding applications can be submitted no later than March 31, 2026. Timely application submission is essential to avoid delays in disbursement. This measure strengthens the quality of nursing and care services in Burgenland and contributes to the long-term assurance of an attractive working environment in social and health services.
