Description
In Vienna, a continuously available grant funding is provided to assist animal owners in the culling of officially ordered reactors. The compensation payments are based on the provisions of the Cattle Health Monitoring Regulation and aim to secure cattle herds by slaughtering and delivering IBR/IPV, Bang's disease, or bovine leukemia reactors to slaughterhouses as ordered by authorities. The amount of the culling compensation is determined in accordance with § 8 para. 3a TGG and Annex G of the regulation, minus any possible slaughter proceeds. Applications can be submitted by businesses and private individuals at any time, ensuring timely compensation without deadline pressure. Implementation is based on official notices, which include the ear tag numbers of the affected animals and a slaughter deadline of up to six weeks.
The funding is specifically targeted at animal owners whose herds fall under the culling regulations. A prerequisite is an official order according to the Cattle Health Monitoring Regulation as well as the timely delivery and slaughter of the relevant animals, confirmed by the official meat inspection veterinarian. Compensation is excluded if animals were introduced contrary to regulations or veterinary import and internal market regulations. For the application, besides the official culling order, only the confirmation from the meat inspection is required. This grant makes an important contribution to the preventive protection of animal health, animal welfare, and the assurance of smooth animal and goods traffic.
