ESSEN • KNOWLEDGE Ambassadors – Training & Support

The nationwide initiative of the Essen • Wissen Foundation Eildermann is aimed at private individuals who wish to promote healthy nutritional education in daycare centers and schools. In sequential courses, participants are trained to become ambassadors for balanced nutrition: from the basic course through specialization to the advanced course. Afterwards, the foundation supports the newly qualified actors with accompanying coaching and project management in planning and implementing their own Essen-Wissen projects in daycare centers, schools, or similar educational institutions. Applications are accepted year-round and provide access to a broad network of nutrition scientists, chefs, dietitians, and educators.

The modular structure initially imparts basic knowledge of food science and nutritional prevention, before specialized units deepen topics such as child nutrition, sustainable menu planning, or hygiene. In the final advanced course, participants develop their own project concepts, which they test in practice followed by a feedback loop from the foundation team. Especially parents and grandparents, chefs, bakers, and service staff as well as members of canteen and meal commissions, caregivers, and teachers benefit from the qualification: they thus actively contribute to preventing nutrition-related diseases and anchoring a health-promoting awareness in children’s and youth groups in the long term. Continuous support after course completion strengthens the ambassadors’ commitment and enables long-term exchange of experience within the Essen-Wissen Academy.
