Description
The European mini-slate development is a grant program aimed at independent production companies in the EU and provides funding for the conception of a mini-slate of two to three audiovisual works (animation, fictional film, creative documentary). The goal is to strengthen the market position of SMEs in the European media landscape and to promote cross-border screening and co-production through early marketing and distribution strategies. The funding also supports emerging producers by enabling the development of an additional short film, thus facilitating entry for new talents. The submission period runs from April 8, 2026, to September 17, 2026, 5:00 p.m. Brussels time.
Eligible are small and medium-sized enterprises based in an EU member state or associated country that, as independent production companies, demonstrate extensive experience and sufficient capacity to develop 2–3 works. In the selection process, reviewers place particular emphasis on the projects' content quality and innovation, cross-border potential, sustainability and environmental strategy, as well as diversity and inclusion. The application must include the application form (Standard application form CREA MEDIA), a creative dossier, a budget calculator, and a declaration of independence and ownership control. Applications that already plan targeted marketing and international cooperation during the development phase promise increased reach and sustainable positioning in the European market.
