Description
The European Partnership AGROECOLOGY promotes practice-oriented research and innovation to accelerate the transition to sustainable agricultural systems. At its core are agroecological Living Labs and modern research infrastructures, where innovative plant and animal breeding approaches as well as practice-oriented methods are tested and scientifically supported. The goal is to increase resilience to climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental risks while simultaneously strengthening food security in Europe. Funding is provided to research consortia from EU member states and associated countries that work closely with agricultural enterprises, research institutions, and Living Labs. As a grant, the funding covers personnel costs, investments in research equipment, material costs, and travel expenses, with a project duration of 24 to 36 months envisaged.
Applications are submitted in a two-stage procedure: first, a preliminary proposal must be submitted by 18 February 2026, 14:00 CET. After positive selection, an invitation to submit a full proposal follows by 8 July 2026, 14:00 CEST. Requirements include a consortium with Living Labs and research institutions as well as eligibility from participating countries. Evaluation criteria are Excellence, Impact, and Quality and Efficiency of Implementation. Required documents include the preliminary and full proposals, project description, financial plan, and CVs of the coordinators. A positive decision enables a project start from January 2027. Through the close integration of science and practice, this funding instrument delivers evidence-based solutions for a future-proof agricultural sector, thereby providing impetus for climate protection, biodiversity conservation, and economic stability in rural areas.
