Description

The funding program enables school classes from Burgenland to engage in an in-depth study of the history of the Holocaust at authentic sites of Nazi crimes. The admission fees for a guided tour led by trained personnel are fully covered, as are the optional workshop fees. The aim is to familiarize young people in a vivid manner with the historical background and consequences of National Socialist violence, thereby strengthening awareness of democratic values and human rights. Eligible applicants are schools or their parent associations from Burgenland that organize an excursion to a recognized memorial site.

The funding rate is 100%. Travel expenses are explicitly excluded from the funding. A grant application must be submitted online no later than six months after the conclusion of the excursion. Required documents include the fully completed funding application and, if applicable, a bank confirmation if no school account exists. Proof of use of the funds is provided by submitting invoices and payment receipts as well as a brief report on the tour including a photo. This continuously available program makes an important contribution to historical-political education and sustainably supports the educational work on site.
