Description

The Export Initiative Energy of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) is aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the German energy sector and supports them free of charge in the international positioning of climate-friendly technologies. Nationwide, companies based in Germany from the fields of renewable energies, energy efficiency, smart grids, storage technologies, as well as adjacent value chains can benefit from a wide range of offerings. Targeted information services, comprehensive market analyses, and support in forming consortia open up potential business opportunities. The initiative promotes exchange and business initiation at international trade fairs and organizes tailor-made foreign trips to establish sustainable partnerships and generate follow-up orders. By bundling expert knowledge and providing local market access, German technologies as "Made in Germany" are to be successfully and effectively anchored in new markets.

Eligible for funding are marketing measures abroad, the organization and implementation of business trips, participation in foreign trade fairs, as well as measures for consortium formation – travel expenses and individual projects without consortium relevance are excluded. Application documents can be submitted throughout the year; evaluation is based on the company's performance and expertise, proven market knowledge in the target country, as well as the quality and economic viability of the project proposal. Funding is provided in the form of a grant and can amount to up to 100,000 euros per project. Interested companies benefit from the network of the Export Initiative Energy, gain access to local contacts, and are supported by experts in implementing their foreign marketing strategies. In this way, the international competitiveness of German providers of climate-friendly energy solutions is strengthened in the long term.
