Description
The Export Initiative Environmental Protection (EXI) aims to establish German environmental technologies in global markets and specifically supports projects in the field of green and sustainable infrastructure. Companies, start-ups, and cooperatives based nationwide receive a non-repayable grant for the internationalization of their processes and products in the areas of foreign trade, environmental/nature conservation, climate protection, as well as energy efficiency & renewable energies. The submission of a project outline by 15.02.2026 is a prerequisite for funding and enables early review and selection of forward-looking projects. With its comprehensive approach, the program significantly contributes to addressing global environmental challenges through German innovative strength.
Interested SMEs and start-ups can strategically leverage their innovative capabilities to open up new markets and position themselves in international competition. Requirements include a registered office in Germany and proof of an environmental or climate-technical application. Only a concisely structured project outline is required for the application. As the funding agency, Zukunft – Umwelt – Gesellschaft (ZUG) gGmbH accompanies the entire funding process, pooling its expertise from over 950 employees at the locations Berlin, Bonn, and Cottbus. The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) provides the necessary funds, thereby setting impulses for sustainable growth and global environmental partnerships.
