Description

Holiday Trips for People with Disabilities is a nationwide funding program by Aktion Mensch that enables inclusive group trips for people with disabilities. The goal is to cover the costs for accompanying persons so that participants – including children, adolescents, and young adults up to 27 years old – can experience barrier-free and diverse leisure activities. Non-profit organizations can submit applications continuously and receive 100% funding without having to provide their own funds. The flat-rate funding of €50 per accompanying person per day creates a reliable basis for long-term planned offers and strengthens the shared experiences of people with and without disabilities.

A maximum funding amount of €400,000 per year is available per project partner. Eligible expenses include exclusively daily flat rates for accompanying persons on holiday trips with a minimum duration of five days. Requirements include open calls that consider the wishes of people with disabilities and implementation by a non-profit institution. Typically, one accompanying person supports three participants; in cases of care level 4/5, wheelchair use, sensory disabilities, or severe behavioral challenges, individual 1:2 or 1:1 supervision is possible. Closed group trips under § 35a SGB VIII, day trips without overnight stays, or stays in the home area are not funded. This program offers organizations the opportunity to sustainably realize inclusion-oriented holiday offers and strengthen social participation.
