Holiday Trips for People with Disabilities

The funding initiative “Holiday Trips for People with Disabilities” supports inclusive leisure activities nationwide, where participants experience shared recreational vacations. Individuals with physical, intellectual, or multiple disabilities can continuously apply for subsidies covering travel, accommodation, and care costs. A prerequisite is proof of disability, for example via a severe disability ID card, as well as being of legal age or having the consent of legal representatives. The financial support aims to reduce barriers and enable people with disabilities to actively participate in society and enjoy valuable recreation in supervised groups.

Applications can be submitted at any time and require a completed application form, a detailed cost plan, and proof of disability. In the evaluation, the severe disability ID card and the individual on-site care needs are taken into account. Eligible expenses include travel costs, accommodation, and accompanying care. Due to the straightforward application process, interested parties can quickly determine whether their travel plans meet the criteria. The initiative significantly contributes to implementing individual travel plans and strengthening inclusive supported interaction in holiday groups. Thus, the program promotes self-determination and fosters the recreation and communal experience of people with disabilities throughout Germany.
