Film, Cinema, Video Funding

The film funding of the state of Vorarlberg continuously supports culturally relevant small-scale and art projects with a cinematic focus, art-house cinemas, festivals, and film clubs, as well as film productions that address Vorarlberg as a cultural, economic, or tourism location. Private households, companies, interest groups, and associations can apply at any time for a grant of up to 20% of eligible expenses – a maximum of €150,000 per project or season. This initiative significantly strengthens Vorarlberg’s film culture and makes a sustainable contribution to the regional media industry. Selection is based on the cultural and artistic value as well as the economic and tourism relevance to Vorarlberg.

Eligible applicants are filmmakers, producers, directors, authors, operators of art-house cinemas, film clubs, and cultural organizers whose projects have a personal or substantive connection to Vorarlberg. Funding is provided for expenses related to development (treatment, screenplay), production of audiovisual works, post-production (editing, sound, effects), as well as distribution and promotion; film studio infrastructure is excluded. The application requires a detailed project description, a crew and casting plan, information on planned shooting locations in Vorarlberg, a detailed financing and cost plan, a utilization and marketing concept, as well as a bank confirmation. Projects are reviewed within the framework of an arts commission and complementary economic and tourism evaluation to ensure transparent and professionally sound funding.
