Description

The film project funding in Salzburg offers filmmakers from the fields of culture and media unlimited grants for artistic film projects of various formats (feature, short, animation, experimental, and documentary films). Funding applications can be submitted at any time for projects with a budget under €10,000; for amounts of €10,000 and above, the submission deadlines are March 31 and September 30. The measure aims to strengthen the artistic film location Salzburg, to creatively, innovatively, and critically illuminate regional topics, to enable emerging filmmakers to enter professional filmmaking, and to facilitate access to further funding for established filmmakers through co-funding. The support is provided as a direct grant without repayment obligation.

Eligible to apply are individuals, companies, and non-profit organizations with proven Salzburg affiliation (content-related, institutional, or personal). Excluded are projects within the scope of education as well as commercial commissioned productions, music videos, and purely amateur films. For evaluation by experts, artistic and content quality, secured overall financing, timely submission before project start, and the main responsibility of the applicants are central. Required documents include a completed funding application, proof of Salzburg affiliation, commercial register or association register excerpt, project treatment, shooting location and schedule, budget and financing plan, confirmations or rejections from other funding bodies, an artistic CV, and reference material (e.g., DVD or links). After project completion, a usage report must be submitted; additionally, an archival copy must be provided for the depot-legal regulation of the Film Archive Austria to ensure the long-term preservation of the cultural heritage.
