Description
ÖFI+ is an automatic location incentive from the Austrian Film Institute for domestic feature films, which can be applied for at any time. The aim of this grant funding is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Austrian film industry, to further develop Vienna as an attractive filming and production location, and to sustainably anchor value creation in Austria. Special emphasis is placed on ecological sustainability as well as gender equality, thereby providing film projects not only with financial planning security but also incentives for environmentally friendly and gender-equitable production methods.
Eligible for funding are qualified, independent production or distribution companies based in Austria. Feature films of all screening lengths with cultural content can be supported with up to EUR 5,000,000 per project, provided that the minimum expenditure in Austria is met (EUR 150,000 for production/feature film, EUR 80,000 for documentary film, EUR 25,000 for distribution). A prerequisite is a funding commitment from a national or regional authority or the fulfillment of the cultural eligibility test, as well as proof of full financing. Eligible expenses include tax-relevant production and exploitation costs. Allocation is based on compliance with the location principle, sustainable production standards, and gender equality, so that filmmakers and companies benefit from stable framework conditions and secure financing.
