Film Location Austria – FISA + promotes international post-production services in Vienna and provides strong incentives for domestic production service providers in the areas of image and sound post-production, VFX/animation, and film music. The program is aimed at Austrian companies with a trade license and business premises in Austria, which operate independently of media service providers and generate their value creation locally. Funding is provided for service productions in which at least 48% of the funded shooting days are realized in Austria or virtual shooting days (VFX/animation) are carried out in local studios. A minimum funding amount of 25,000 euros per project and a maximum funding rate of 30% (or 35% if the green filming criteria are met) of the recognized project costs enable competitive financing until December 31, 2027. The goal is to increase the competitiveness of the film location, secure qualified jobs, and provide sustainable impulses for the media location Vienna.

Applications are submitted continuously via the aws Funding Manager and require the submission of a Service Production Agreement, a detailed cost calculation, as well as proof of financing commitments and a project description. The evaluation particularly considers the quality and scope of Austrian post-production, implementation of ecological standards (“Green Bonus”), as well as the experience and references of the production service providers. FISA + rewards transparency, planning security, and innovation with four partial payments of 30%, 30%, 20%, and 20% according to project progress. Additionally, Gender-Gap-Financing allows a flat-rate grant increase of 25,000 euros for a high proportion of women in head departments. Film Location Austria – FISA + thus strengthens Vienna’s attractiveness as a center of international post-production expertise.
