Financial Support (Project Funding) of the Protestant School Foundation in the EKD

The Protestant School Foundation within the EKD supports educational institutions nationwide with project-based grants that strengthen a Protestant profile, expand inclusive structures, or promote social responsibility. Funding is provided for initiatives that fall within the thematic areas of education, commitment to social cohesion and democracy, children and youth, as well as vocational training and social affairs. Sponsors from all types of schools and other educational institutions can submit applications at any time to receive financial resources for innovative teaching projects, barrier-free renovation measures, or events that contribute to an inclusive and Protestant school landscape. Interested parties develop a clear objective in their project concept, describe the desired impacts, and demonstrate how their initiative enriches the internal and external dialogue on Christian values and social participation.

For the application, an online application form, a detailed project description including the target group, and a binding project and financing plan are required. Additionally, proof of bank details (IBAN) and declarations of consent regarding the accuracy of the information and reporting are necessary. Information on own funds, already requested third-party funds, and the desired funding amount complete the documentation. Through the transparently designed, three-stage process in the online portal, the School Foundation ensures prompt processing and predictable decisions. Project managers also benefit from the opportunity to report on their successes in the EKD’s digital and print publications. This continuous funding mechanism offers all educational institutions the chance to set sustainable impulses for a future-oriented and inclusive school development.
