Description
The Focused MICHAEL Fellowships of the Michael Foundation – a foundation for epilepsy – offer young physicians and early-career researchers up to 40 years old from European countries the opportunity to deepen clinical procedures and research approaches in the field of epileptology in a practical setting. For a clinical or study stay of at least six weeks at selected epilepsy centers in Germany, as well as since July 2019 at the King’s College London PET Centre, a scholarship of €2,250 and a travel allowance of up to €300 are available. The goal is to become acquainted with advanced EEG diagnostics, imaging techniques, or other defined clinical procedures and to actively participate in research projects. Applications can be submitted at any time, as there is no deadline.
Submitting an application requires prior arrangement of a clinical or study stay with a participating center. Required documents include a curriculum vitae, proof of age (copy of ID card or passport), a list of scientific publications (maximum ten), two letters of recommendation from neuroscientists or neurologists, a confirmation of supervision from the chosen epilepsy center, and a letter of motivation. After positive evaluation of the application, a password-protected upload area enables the submission of documents. Fellows are obliged to submit a report of their experience no later than nine months after the completion of their stay. The fellowships not only promote professional excellence but also strengthen European exchange and networking in epileptology.
