Description
The Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation offers a continuously open funding opportunity in the field of monument preservation for cultural architectural and archaeological monuments in Lower Saxony. Private individuals, non-profit organizations, and public institutions can apply for non-repayable grants, provided that public interest is maintained and public access to the monument is ensured. Eligible expenses primarily include monument-related costs, restorations, documentation, as well as architect and engineer fees. Measures for the prospection and preservation of archaeological monuments, as well as energy-efficient and barrier-free upgrades, also fall within the scope of funding, as do conversions that enable sustainable continued use within the historical context. The standard funding limit is €30,000 per object; in cases of nationwide significance, an increase up to €60,000 is possible. A valid monument protection approval and a detailed cost and financing plan are prerequisites for the application.
Projects are evaluated based on criteria such as practical relevance, sustainability, and linkage with environmental aspects. A project duration of up to 36 months and proof of non-exclusive personal benefit are part of the funding guidelines. Expenses for museum exhibits or general building maintenance are excluded. For the application, in addition to the completed application form, a financing plan, if applicable a tax exemption certificate, and the monument protection approval must be submitted. Applications can be submitted at any time, with the earliest possible submission recommended four to ten weeks before the project start. The foundation supports approved projects with professional advice and conducts a final review of the usage report to ensure transparent use of funds.
