Description
The Development Cooperation funding area of the Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation supports non-profit organizations, municipalities, and churches based in Lower Saxony in educational and exchange projects in the Global North as well as practical initiatives in the Global South. The aim is to convey Global Learning and promote intercultural encounters as well as improve living conditions in rural regions, particularly in the areas of climate protection, energy efficiency, food security, and education. Selection is based on quality criteria such as practical relevance, broad impact, and exemplary character. Sustainability and voluntary engagement contribute to long-term effectiveness; North and South partners prepare letters of intent or cooperation agreements to ensure a trusting collaboration.
Up to 90% of eligible expenses (personnel, material, and travel costs) are funded for projects with a duration of up to 36 months. Applications can be submitted at any time; after a preliminary project outline, consultation is recommended to clarify the prospects of success. Depending on the funding amount, either the management or the advisory board decides; deadlines of four to ten weeks must be observed. The requested funds are made available alongside the project, with 10% of the funding amount released upon submission of a detailed proof of expenditure. A comprehensive report with evaluation and photographic documentation ensures that the results are made accessible to the public and that the set objectives are transparently achieved.
