Description
Environmental and Nature Conservation Funding Area of the Lower Saxony Bingo Environmental Foundation supports non-profit organizations, public institutions, associations, foundations, and federations in Lower Saxony with practical nature conservation and environmental education projects. Funded measures include securing and improving the natural environment, such as the creation and enhancement of habitats, the establishment and maintenance of traditional orchards, as well as projects promoting insect diversity like flowering areas and nesting aids. School and daycare projects aimed at the ecological enhancement of outdoor facilities and environmental education concepts involving children and youth are also a focus. Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant covering up to 90% and can be applied for personnel, material, supplies, and planting costs, public relations, as well as planning and documentation expenses. The maximum project duration is 36 months; retroactive funding is excluded. Applicants must be based in Lower Saxony and submit a sustainability and volunteer engagement concept. Up to €15,000 can be requested per project at the management level or up to €50,000 at the board level; further funding opportunities exist within the framework of committee decisions.
Applications must include a project description with a timeline, cost and financing plan, proof of non-profit status or public-law sponsorship, and, if applicable, consent declarations for land use and CVs of the project team. Applications can be submitted continuously via the digital application portal; formal deadlines depend on the requested amount and the responsible committee. Key criteria are practical feasibility, volunteer commitment, and the sustainable impact of the projects. The program thus facilitates active participation in biodiversity promotion in Lower Saxony and strengthens environmental education for children and youth.
