Description
The Equal Opportunity Funding Fund offers non-profit organizations in Germany nationwide support to promote equitable education. With the aim of realizing diverse, fair, and inclusive educational concepts in daycare centers, primary schools, and secondary schools, projects are supported that are developed participatively and initiated by active stakeholders from the fields of education, teaching, and social pedagogy. This support enables initiatives in which children and young people can discover and develop their own talents to confidently shape their individual life paths. In doing so, the fund contributes to fully exploiting the potential of educational institutions and breaking down barriers.
Funding is provided as a grant ranging from 500 to 5,000 euros, with particular attention given to project-related fees and material costs. Applications must be submitted through the respective daycare or school support association – a current tax exemption certificate is mandatory for this purpose. The selection criteria are based on aspects such as participation, diversity, and inclusion, as well as sustainable project development. Additionally, fostering responsibility, initiative, and teamwork, imparting experiences of self-efficacy, and integrating project results into everyday (school) life are evaluated as decisive quality features. These criteria ensure that the funded projects achieve long-term impact and transfer into daily educational practice.
The initiative is aimed at teachers, educators, social pedagogues, and volunteers who actively advocate for forward-looking and inclusive education. Within the framework of the funding program, the fund’s initiators – the donation organization Stiftung Bildung together with the Anke and Dr. Uwe Schäkel Foundation – cooperate with various educational stakeholders to sustainably support social change. By involving experts and committed representatives of the educational landscape, innovative ideas are to be developed and implemented to reduce structural educational inequalities. Overall, the Equal Opportunity Funding Fund makes an important contribution to shaping educational spaces participatively and strengthening the potential of young people in their life paths.
