Description
A joint initiative by aws, FFG, and FWF strengthens the entire Austrian AI ecosystem – from basic research to entrepreneurial implementation. The focus is on supporting research, innovation, and digitization projects in Vienna with a flexible submission deadline via eCall until the funding volume is exhausted. Grants can cover between 25% and 100% of eligible expenses, with funding amounts ranging from €15,000 to €150,000. The goal is to sustainably unlock the enormous potential of artificial intelligence as a future technology for the economy and society and to create added value for Austria as a research and business location.
Targeted are educational institutions, start-ups, and companies of all sizes – from universities and universities of applied sciences to start-ups, SMEs, and large enterprises. Eligible costs include personnel costs, material and investment expenses for equipment and infrastructure, travel and accommodation costs, contract research, license fees, as well as overhead costs. Excluded are, for example, real estate acquisitions, expenses incurred before submission, and retroactive costs. Requirements include electronic application submission via eCall, reference to the instrument guidelines, and consideration of project-specific requirements. Evaluation is based on innovation content, location relevance, degree of cooperation, technology transfer potential, and sustainability aspects. For application submission, a project description, cost and financing plan, CVs/qualification certificates, and a power of attorney from the authorized representative are required. Project start is possible from December 1, 2022; the ongoing deadline ends when the funding is depleted.
