Description
The support circle "Thuringian Athletes to Beijing" of the Thuringian Sports Aid Foundation is aimed at outstanding athletes from Thuringia who are currently listed in the squad of the respective top national federation and have legitimate chances of participating in the 2022 Olympic or Paralympic Games in Beijing. With a total funding amount of €45,000, the foundation supports training camp and competition costs as well as the acquisition of sports equipment and materials, provided that other funding bodies do not fully cover these expenses. Selection criteria for inclusion in the support circle are particularly successes at the previous year's World Championships and World Cups as well as the athletic prospects for the Games in China.
In close cooperation with the Thuringian Olympic Training Center, the State Sports Association, and the state and top national federations, the foundation strives for optimal preparation of the athletes to enable peak performance. By financially supporting additional training camps outside the federation’s planning as well as competition expenses, the support circle helps to minimize burdens during the preparatory year and create ideal conditions. In particular, Thuringian elite athletes from Olympic and Paralympic disciplines benefit from this targeted support to achieve their personal best performances at the 2022 Games and to represent the state of Thuringia internationally.
