Description

The Klaus Tschira Foundation gGmbH supports nonprofit and public institutions as well as educational providers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland nationwide in implementing innovative projects in the natural sciences, mathematics, and computer science. The focus of the continuously available funding lies on research projects, educational programs, and science communication, which are realized through earmarked grants. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis and approved based on a positive evaluation. Prerequisites include proof of nonprofit status, alignment with the specified subject areas, and a strong network approach within the project environment. Individuals, clinical studies, competition entries, or theses are also excluded.

The selection is based on the quality of innovation, sustainable impact, and networking of the project idea. Applicants submit a brief application concept (short application) as well as a detailed project description including title and objectives, along with the exemption notice. The multi-stage review process may include a full application or a virtual pitch if necessary. After positive evaluation, funding commitments are granted and accompany partial measures for science communication or workshops to evaluate project success. This transparent funding strengthens long-term effective impulses in research, education and training, as well as public knowledge dissemination, and actively promotes sustainable development in STEM fields.
