Description
The Rössing Citizens' Foundation Award honors outstanding voluntary commitment that significantly advances the social and cultural future of the village community. Individuals, regular schools, and non-profit organizations based in Rössing whose projects are forward-looking, sustainable, and of high public benefit are recognized. Proposals and applications can be submitted informally at any time, with proof of the commitment provided. The award is presented during the annual village community festivals and supports initiatives in the areas of youth and elderly care, sports, arts and culture, education and vocational training, environmental and nature conservation, as well as local heritage preservation. The aim is to make exemplary model projects more visible and to motivate further civic engagement.
Evaluation is based on four criteria: future orientation, replicability, benefit to the public, and social significance including support of current developments. The earmarked prize amount is individually tailored to the awarded initiatives and serves directly for project implementation. An informal application—by mail to the board or by email—is sufficient to be considered. With the continuously open application period, the Rössing Citizens' Foundation remains flexible and responds promptly to new ideas and initiatives. The award strengthens community cohesion, supports sustainable village development, and sets important impulses for voluntary engagement in Lower Saxony.
